Who we are

Al-Bayan Institute of Online Learning ("we", "us", "the Institute") provides one-to-one online Quran and Islamic education to students in Pakistan and around the world. We are based in Chaklala Scheme III, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website or enrol in our classes, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

Information we collect

We only ask for what we need to arrange and deliver a class. That usually means:

• Student details - name, age, current level of study and the course you are interested in.
• Contact details - the parent's or student's WhatsApp number, and email address if you write to us.
• Scheduling details - country, timezone and the class times that suit you.
• Payment confirmations - the receipt or screenshot you send after paying a monthly fee. We do not ask for, collect or store card numbers, bank passwords, PINs or OTPs.
• Messages - anything you choose to write to us on WhatsApp or by email.
• Progress records - a teacher's notes on lessons covered, revision and progress, kept so we can report back to you.

How we collect it

The enrolment form on this website does not send anything to a server of ours. When you press Send on WhatsApp, your browser opens WhatsApp with the details you typed already written into a message. Nothing leaves your device until you press send inside WhatsApp.

We also receive information when you message us directly on WhatsApp, email us, or speak to a teacher during a class.

Why we use your information

• To arrange your free trial class and match you with a suitable teacher
• To schedule classes at a time that works in your timezone
• To teach the class and track the student's progress
• To send progress updates to parents
• To confirm fee payments and keep our own accounts in order
• To answer your questions and provide support

We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build marketing profiles.

Information about children

Many of our students are under 18. We ask that a parent or guardian makes the enrolment, provides the contact details and gives permission for classes to take place. Where a student is a minor, we communicate with the parent or guardian, not the child, about scheduling, fees and progress.

We collect no more information about a child than is needed to teach them: name, age, level and progress notes. If you are a parent and want us to delete your child's information, message us and we will do it.

Who we share information with

We share the minimum necessary with:

• Your teacher - so they can prepare and deliver the class.
• The platform you choose for classes - WhatsApp (Meta), Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. Each of these has its own privacy policy and processes your data under its own terms.
• Our bank and payment channels - Meezan Bank and Easypaisa, when you transfer a fee.
• Our website host - Netlify, which processes standard server logs such as IP addresses for security and reliability.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a student.

Class recordings

We do not record classes as a matter of routine. If a teacher ever needs to record part of a lesson - for example so a student can revise a difficult passage - we will ask for your permission first, and for a student under 18 we will ask the parent. You can say no, and the class will go ahead exactly the same.

International transfers

We teach students worldwide, so your information may be processed in Pakistan and in whichever countries our platform providers operate. Pakistan's data protection framework may differ from the one in your own country. By enrolling, you agree to your information being handled as described in this policy.

How long we keep information

We keep student and contact details for as long as the student is enrolled, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case the family returns or asks for records. Payment confirmations are kept as long as our accounts require. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.

How we protect information

Communication with us happens over WhatsApp and email, which are protected by those providers. Devices used by our teachers are password protected, and progress records are only accessible to the teacher and the Director. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you or your child
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
• Stop contacting you

Message us on WhatsApp or email us and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. There is no charge for this.

This website uses only essential cookies, plus cookies set by the embedded Google Map on our contact section. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

Links to other websites

Our site links to Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp. Once you follow a link you are on their platform and this policy no longer applies. Please read their policies if you are concerned about how they handle your data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Please check back occasionally. Continuing to use our classes after a change means you accept the updated policy.
